New addition!

We have a new addition to the family! Yesterday we picked up "Rusty", a Brittany Spaniel. He's going to be 2 yrs old in June and is a bundle of energy. He's house-trained and fairly well-behaved. His former owner had hunted with him, but his training is quite, um.... "rusty" (pardon the pun). Rusty gets along very well with Trudi and is good with Ben. Ben is thrilled to have another dog for him to imitate. His first words when he woke up this morning were "Rusty is still here!" - that seemed to start his day off right. :-)

Tim has wanted a Brittany for years and we didn't think we'd be able to afford one for quite some time. Rusty's former owner left the continent and didn't want Rusty anymore so we jumped on the opportunity. We're hoping that someday Rusty will be an upland bird hunting companion, but there's lots of work in store for us and Rusty before that dream can be realized.

Poor Trudi wore herself out playing with Rusty yesterday in the deep, wet snow in our backyard - today it seems like she's aged 10 yrs in 24 hrs. She's moving much slower and being much mellower than ever. She's going to have to learn to pace herself. It's nice to have 2 dogs in the house again. It's also wonderful to see how very happy Tim is over this unexpected blessing.
