3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months...

It's been 3 days since Rusty joined our household and last night was the first night we weren't serenaded to sleep by his yelping in his crate. I was starting to despair of ever getting him to sleep in his crate and was ready to let him sleep in our room, but the 3 day rule kicked in. YAY. We were told that Rusty was crate trained and having lived with dogs that will injure themselves to try to get out of a crate, we didn't want to give up too easily. Having dog that is crate trained is a blessing. It's safety and security for the dog and owner. It always makes it easier to travel and camp with the dog.

Rusty is fitting in very well. Trudi is starting to show signs of recovering from her initial overly enthusiastic welcome which left her worn out. Rusty is barkier than Trudi, but I don't really mind knowing when something is out of sorts.

I've noticed that while Trudi's hair shows mostly in our kitchen and bath on the white floors, Rusty's hair shows up more everywhere else. He's far more social than Trudi so he also spends far more time in the bedrooms and living room with us. I'm vacuuming every day and still feel like I can't keep up. Good thing they're both so cute! :-)

Our three "pups":

Rusty is sure that if he tries hard enough he'll be able to climb the tree and get at that squirrel:
