I'm still alive!

It's been ages since I've blogged. Seems like Facebook has replaced blogging for the most part. It's certainly much easier to post photos and interact on Facebook than here. But here I am!

We're in the last couple of weeks of the summer months and with it being as stinkin' hot & humid as it's been, I'm really looking forward to fall!

Just found out that Tim & I both managed to score doe tags for the Huntsville area this season (doe tags are assigned by lottery and they are pretty stingy about handing them out). Last year Tim and his pals were tripping over does but didn't have a tag between the 4 of them, so our doe tags this year (and my involvement in the hunt) should guarantee that we don't see any deer at all this season. Which would be the same as my dismal local hunting was last year. One of these years I'll shake the monkey off my back! lol

In spite of the heat, the summer has flown by! As soon as school was over, Ben & I joined my mother for a quick drive to visit my brother's family in Alberta. Four days on the road, 4 days in Edmonton, 2 days in Jasper, 2 days in Radium Hot Springs, and then 4 days to drive back home. Ben called it a "Stop-and-Sleep Trip" - we'd told him that Uncle Mark and his family live so far away that if you wanted to drive there you'd have to stop and sleep a few time before you arrived.

I'll post some photos and comments about the trip in the future, but for now I'll leave you with some photos of Ben's first fish. He'd decided he wanted to try fishing so we took him to the local stocked trout point (Trout Springs) and he pulled out a couple of dandy big trout!
