Help with Flowers

Spent a good part of the day outside planting some flowers with Ben's "help". Even though the job could have been done in an hour or so with Ben's help it took much longer - and was so much more fun! He helped water the plants and snip the old ones back. He put the flower trays in the recycling bin for me. At one point I returned from a trip to the front yard and was was surprised to find him taking off his clothes. Apparently it was very important to him to pee in the garden. He looked like a little garden statue fountain and for a moment I was tempted to grab my camera. He spent the rest of the time begging me to turn the garden hose sprayer on him while he ran through the mist. Although I always said I wouldn't be one of those moms who lets her kid run around naked, I have to admit it was impossible to ruin those few hours of such joy. Those giggles and the complete abandon were things I'll stash away in my mind memory back. The precious days of childhood innocence pass far too quickly!

This evening a friend stopped by with her daughter. They brought along a little tent for Ben - which we set up in the living room right away. Ben had a lot of fun with it and I know he'll spend hours in it camping out in his room or in the yard! Thanks so much L. & M!!!!!

We got some news today about my father's health. It seems the cancer has returned in several very enlarged lymph nodes. Apparently it is not operable. I'm not sure exactly why. We are waiting for the referral from the cancer centre to see if they'll recommend chemo again or perhaps radiation. We take each day as it comes.

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.
